As we enter into a new photography season, we always take the time to reflect on past clients and really why we do what we do.. which is where we are going with this blog post. We are sharing a bit of our hearts here after a few months of rest and restoration.

As most photographers know, this industry can be frustrating. We compare ourselves to others way too often, leaving sessions feeling defeated because we didn’t have “perfect light” or our settings weren’t quite right. We compare our abilities to others who had the perfect circumstance, clients, details… who have more experience, better equipment, better locations. It can be overwhelming at times and it can make us feel defeated.

BUT (which is such a nice word sometimes)

When we look back on our photos, we realize that it is not about being perfect. It isn’t about having perfect clients, although most of ours are ;). It isn’t about comparing ourselves with others. It isn’t about winning contests, or taking THAT PERFECT PHOTO.

It is about our clients. their memories, their families, their moments, their events, their love, their lives. What we do lasts forever. We make a mark. What else matters?

These are some of our favorite photos, not because they are the “prettiest” or the most “perfect,” but because they are memories and moments that make this job worth it.
